Acting President Delcy Rodríguez led the expansion of the Peace Quadrants program this Thursday in the Angostura del Orinoco municipality. The program will now encompass 252 community circuits and communes in the states of Bolívar and Guayana Esequiba, as part of the Great Mission Peace Quadrants.

The initiative guarantees one quadrant per community territory, with a distribution of 195 urban, 20 semi-urban, and 37 rural units, optimizing the response capacity to security needs in urban, rural, and hard-to-reach areas.

During the event, held alongside the Vice President for Citizen Security, Politics, and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, a fleet of 63 patrol cars and 504 motorcycles was delivered, along with patrol and communication equipment for the operational functioning of the quadrants.

Rodríguez highlighted that Venezuela currently has more than 3,000 Peace Quadrants nationwide, achieving 57% coverage across the country. “It is an essential plan of President Nicolás Maduro to strengthen security from the ground up and ensure that security policies are accompanied by the power of the people in the community circuits,” the president stated.

The acting president linked the expansion of the quadrants to the context following January 3, 2016, the date on which, according to her, “a disproportionate external military aggression against the Venezuelan people” occurred. In this context, she emphasized that “today more than ever, the people of Venezuela value the meaning, the dimension of tranquility and peace.”

Rodríguez also announced the signing of the reform to the Law of the Statute of the Function of the Investigative Police, approved by the National Assembly, which will standardize the hierarchical ranks of the police investigation units with the rest of the citizen security agencies.

The president thanked the police officers for their work and highlighted the launch of the Great Mission Guardians of the Homeland to provide comprehensive support to the families of security personnel. “We must march together in the civic-military-police fusion,” she affirmed, acknowledging the work of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces in defending territorial sovereignty.

The event also included thanks to the National Assembly for approving the amnesty law in its first reading, which Rodríguez described as “a law for peace” that seeks to overcome differences “through harmonious relations and democratic coexistence.”
